6-12inches of fresh powder and lows below 0
« on: December 08, 2005, 11:32:15 AM »
I tried an evening stand in the snow last night with no luck.  probably got out too late as it was 4:50 pm.  stayed till dark and was covered with a blanket of snow in 30 minutes.  It will be 6 below tonight with highs near 16 tomorrow, with clear skies.  Hope they're hungry and cold.  Also I never seem to have much luck near rifle deer season is it because they have plenty to eat?  Called in 4 at 15 yds on thanksgiving morning at a different stand.  got the male and could not stop the female, shot and missed.  other two ran back into the cover they came out of right next to my stand.

We picked up 4"-6" snow just today so we may have caught part of the same system. Lows tonight will be 2degree but we have had a few nights now in the single digits.
You would be right on the cold & hungry. Even a sparrow has to eat five times more than normal just to keep from freezing solid. Good luck to
You. :D
