JJack,
Besides ammo availability, what do you think of the Ultra Magnums with concern to the 375 RUM?  Anyone else please comment as well.  :D

My comment is that if you need more than the .375 H&H delivers then what you really need is a larger bore not a faster bullet.

msorenso - I believe Mr. Hack covered this topic in one of the 375 vs 416 discussions a while back. If you can locate them they make some interesting reading. Trying to get RUM ammo in Africa is very hard to do, a hunting buddy of mine told me when he was in RSA last year, his guide was in the process of getting rid of his .375 RUM and going back to the .375 H&H because he couldn't get a steady supply of ammo for it. I agree with the boss if you need more rifle than get more rifle! It's also a great reason to buy another rifle! Good luck! CEJ...

I doubt that in 25 yrs WSM or RUM ammo will be easy to locate here stateside...BUT I'll lay good odds one can walk into any sportshop here or abroad and find a couple boxes of 375H&H

If you really want 375 RUM performance (meaning speed / energy).... just get a 375 h&h with Hornady heavy-magnum ammo... they are almost as powerfull as the mighty 375 RUM and not so expensive... about &30-35 a box
