I just came up with a small ring mexican that was badly sporterized. I was thinking on either keeping the origional 7mm mau chambering or going to the 7.65x53 argentine chambering.

I will be needing a new stock, problem is that I am left handed and almost nobody makes a decent stock for the southpaw minority..

I know for years the mexican mauser receiver was the hottest thing on the planet for building sporter rifles. If i remember correctly its has a 98 style bolt and a small ring receiver. Now the 7mm mauser round is a great round and its one of the most flattest shooting rounds there is but if your going to rebarrel it to another caliber its your choice. My only question is why the 7,65x53 round? Grafs has new brass for the 7,65x53 arg. and midwayusa has the Lee reloading dies. I still would like to know why the 7,65 round?

If the bore is good I would keep it 7mm mauser! You can buy factory ammo for that still but no one makes the 7.65 Argentine ammo anymore at least not in this country. As far as a stock goes you should be able to get a stock that does not have the rollever and if it does the stock maker should ba able to take it off for you. So it is a standard stock.

The barrel is badly washed out. Rifling starts about 4" from where it should and is badly pitted.

As for the 7.65 cal. I have the dies and lots of 30-06 brass and plenty of bullets for my sks. There is also a bit of non-corrosie reloadable ammo comming overas surplus.

The biggest issue is finding a proper takeoff barrel that is clean. Even Numrich arms is out.

I would be happy to keep the 7mm bore if I could find a good replacement.

Anyone have one with a tight bore??

Good luck on the barrel I just checked Springfield Sporters and I suppose you could call them but I did not see any barrels listed but that is where I bought mine for 20 bucks and it was a usable barrel.
