Are you shooting handloads? It seems to me that powder burn rates affect that problem. You might try another powder.........that, or get a 480 instead!

Its pretty common in factory guns. The gap is a little bigger then say a FA gun. Ive had a few guns do it and for the most part they will cut a little and then get no worse and its nothing to worry about. Just keep your eyes on it.

If I were to start melting one, I think I'd start with the 60,000 psi handbomb. Just think of all the bullets you could make from a 454. The downside is it would be a lot less than what one could make from one for the 454. :-D

This has been address on the Ruger forum and to Ruger as was stated before you see/get some cutting in the 454 Casull that will stop after a while . How much cutting you'll get is determined by how hot your loads are and how much you shoot! The thing to remember it "WILL NEVER " become a safety concern! 8)

According to Ruger, the cyl gap should be between .003 and .009". My 44mag has about .004". I haven't checked the 454 since Ruger fixed it but new it was less than .001 on one side and .006" on the opposite side. Crane was screwed up.
My other barrel for the 44mag has about .006". It started life as a 9 1/2" and has morphed into a 6 1/2" . It's next life might be 4 5/8", I haven't decided yet.
