Blackhawk 30 carbine load w/110 jhp?
« on: March 08, 2003, 11:57:10 AM »
I normally load a Hornady 100 gr sj over 12.0 gr of 2400 in my Ruger blackhawk .30 carbine pistol.  A buddy gave me 300 Speer 110 gr jhp bullets.  ANybody got any good loads for this bullet?  I have 2400, WW296, AA #7 on hand, along with various shotshell powders.  Let me know if you have a favorite.

TIA, Tom

Tom

My book calls for 11.2 grains of 2400 as a max load in the handgun(starting load 10.2)  when I was shooting my carbine ,for me H110 worked well, to day I would use 296 . 14 grains low load and 15 grains top load. In the past I have shot thousands of rounds out of mine and it still shoots well.

   good luck

This group, which measured somewhere around 2.557-inches for 6-shots at 100-yards.
It was fired using a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 Carbine with open sights
Case: Remington
Primer: Remington 6-1/2
Powder: 15.4 grains of 2400
Bullet: Sierra 110 grain Round Nose
Velocity: 1,703 FPs @ 15' from muzzle

Speer # 1835

I use the Speer # 1835 110 grain JHP bullets in a 30 Carbine Encore and AMT Automag III.

Because of the lower pressure limits of the AMT, I limit myself to 14.5 grains of W-296.   Those Speer bullets are a perfect match for the pistol velocities of the 30 Carbine.  They expand into perfect mushrooms!

I'm currenty on the road on a business trip.  Please verify the load I listed with a loading manual before using!
