Hey Guys,  :D Hawgmaster here.
I found this site about a week ago and have spent hours reading, you guys have some good stuff on here. I recently bought a stainless handi .223 and I love it. I have been reading on here about the things you guys do to make these guns more accurate. I have a question about one product that you guys are using to polish the bore with, what is JB and where can I get it?
I bought this gun with the intention to satrt predator hunting here in South Carolina. the first time out with it I got my first kills, 2 red foxes. one came from 40 yards and the other from 100, I was very pleased to say the least.

Hawgmaster,WELCOME to the forum   :D

Try flitz,it is a metal polish..I got my bottle from an Ace hardware store.....just cleans up the bore real nice and smoothes out the little imperfections

GOOOOOD job on the 2 foxes  :agree:  :agree:  :-)

Welcome aboard!! :D   JB Non-embedding bore compound is available from Brownell's and at guns shops, but USP Bore paste, Flitz, Maas, Simichrome or any fine metal polish will do the trick. I've used all of em,  use whatcha can find.

Nice to have you with us and the continuing growth of HandiHolics moves farther.
Check out the Faqs and all the other goods here. Lots of good info here. But it sounds like you have already been reading up. Nice doing with the Foxes too. The 223s are a great Handi caliber to be sure. A couple questions for ya- Is yours a newer model 1-9 or an older, 1-12 twist? What kind of ammo were you taking them with?

Hey Guys, thanks for the welcome.

Aaron, My gun has a 1in12 twist, it is the stainless/composite stock.
The ammo I was shooting was some I loaded, Remington brass, cci 400 primer, 26 grains of Benchmark powder and a Nosler 50 gr. ballistic tip boat tail bullet.
I was after a bobcat the day the foxes came up, the nosler bullet did a job on them, big exit hole in both.

Also, I bedded the front of the scope rail where it hangs over a little where the barrell slopes away from it, used JBQuick to do this and it turned out very nice. I also mounted a Nikon Buckmaster scope on it
a 6 x 18 x 44 with a fine duplex, love this scope as well.

A good load to be sure, Nosler BTs are almost always a safe bet, that is unless you are wanting to tan the hides :)
 And I have looked through the same scope too, good choice.
I haven't seen any bobcats around here for a little while, but have been noticing the coyotes and fox numbers on the rise. Then again, those bobs are wiley creatures, no doubt about it.
Sounds like you have a nice little varmint package there :toast:

Sounds like you have a good .223 Handi, looks like you read the faqs and others here have covered the JB question for you  :-)  Just curious though how dose your .223 do on paper ? I have one and she shoots .3 to .5 if  I do my part.

When I first got it, I shot some balck hills thru it , 55 gr. soft point. best groups were 2". I then shot several makes of rounds thru it and the best groups I got was from Remington 50gr gold tips, 6 shots covered by a quarter. I did some barrel polishing and started loading some of my own stuff. got the groups down to a little more but still would have 1 0r 2 flyers in 5 shots. I am currently doing the " Werks" on the gun fitting and bedding like I have read about on this site. I hope by next week I will get to range it again, I will keep you all posted as to results.

I may be a bit late with the welcome hawgmaster but it's sincere nonetheless, Welcome Aboard!! :D  :D .

You don't have to worry about becoming infected with the "Handi-itus" germ by we here hawgmaster, it sounds as if you are a full blown "Handiholic" right from the git -go!!...Merry Christmas and post often, I am interested in how your .223 comes out, it sounds as if it's shooting well now. Have you shoot any WW White Box 45 grain HPs in it? They are usually what all other .223 ammo is judged against in Handi's. For factory ammo it's cheap also, about $14.00 for a 40 round box at Wal Mart...it really is the "gold standard" of factory ammo in most of our .223 Handi's.....let us know how things go

Hello , thanks for the welcome.
No I have not tried the Whitebox stuff yet, saw it at wally world one night and thought I Might have to give it a shot, I will now for sure to see how it shoots in my gun.
I am glad I found you guys and this site, I am sure I will learn a lot from all the collective experience on here.
