Which Leupold Rifleman rings for 20 gauge USH?
« on: December 12, 2005, 11:58:46 AM »
I'm going to be mounting a Leupold 2-7x33 shotgun scope on my 20 gauge USH Deluxe.  Which Leupold Rifleman rings work best - medium or high?  I had to use the high on my CVA Kodiak with my 3-9x40 VX1 - will I need them for this setup as well?  Thanks!

Medium is the best in my opinion. Mount the scope as close to the barrel as you can.  :D

Yes - I got the pdf and thanks - the info helped me find some loads.  I've only purchased the Federal 3" with Barnes Expander bullets so far - if they work out that is what I'm going to stick with until Hornady comes out with their 250 grain SST loaded in 20 gauge next fall.

Keep us all posted on your range results.  Really like to know how those Federals and Hornady's fly.

My kid seems to have finally hit a growth spurt since I bought him his 20 ga USH youth model last spring.  Might just have to make a trip to the gun shop for a new 20 ga USH deluxe between now and Christmas.  If that's the case, we'll be making a trip to the range ourselves!

One more question about the Leupold Rifleman rings.  I notice they also come in the vertical split ring.  What is the advantages/disadvantages of the vertical split ring versus the regular ring?  To me it looks like it would be much harder to mount the scope with the vertical split ring than the normal one.  It also looks like the only thing the vertical split ring offers is a little cleaner, sleeker fit for the scope to the gun?  Opinions are appreciated.
