357 Bain & Davis
« on: December 13, 2005, 09:32:50 AM »
I am interested in converting a DA 357 into the 357 B & D (357/44) for hunting. I have found a little info on this conversion and have called Bain and Davis Inc.  I was advise that nither Bain nor Davis "was with B & D Inc. and the details were lacking (no web page, no lit, ect) They did quote prices but I am a little lerry of this outfit.
Does anyone have any experience with the 357 B & D and/or know of anyone who does this conversion.  Anybody know if the actual Bain and Davis are still around and doing business.
Thanks,
Don

I had a Model 27 converted years ago.  Bain and Davis did the work.  The cartridge is, of course, a .44 Mag necked down to .357, and is easy to load for.  The last loads I did were with H110, and a Speer bullet.
They just bored out the cylinder to take the cartridge.  I was getting over 1650 fps with a 158 grain JSP.  The barrel was 6 inches.  I still have the gun, but don't shoot it a lot anymore.  I used it for metallic silhouette.
