I have a barrel in 45-70 I love the thing but is the forearm useable with other barrels such as bull barrels? I'm just wondering.  kjg

Hi KJG,

From what I've learned, the 45/70 is a heavy barrel.  The forend will work on other rifle barrels and on the slimmer barrels, will have a slight space on the sides.  Won't work with the black powder or shotgun barrels.

KJG are my initials also: Karl Jack Gillard.....nice to make your aquaintance.

no the katahin barrel has it own fore end--according to ed's contenders--i just bought a 45/70--and it looks like he's right.
always be safe and pass it on to a young hunter
