Hi:

Do Marlin lever action rifles have that same safety mechanism that the new Winchester Model 94 rifles have? What I am talking about is where the lever has to be lifted up against that little button on the bottom of the rifle.

YES they do!

There is a small button which needs to be pushed up by the lever in order for the gun to be fired!

I was under the impression that on the Winchester you had to physically hold the lever up against the plunger, but on the Marlin there is a spring loaded detent that holds it up there for you once the lever is closed.

I just tried that on my Guide Gun and 1894AE and this is true. On the Win94 you do have to physically hold up the lever with the grip of your hand.....Marlin not so.
