I have been shooting Mathews bows for a lot of years now. I have never had a problem with any of the bows I have owned. At one time I looked at the Hoyt bows, but stayed with Mathews.  :D

Over the last 25 years I have shot at least 12 different makes/models of bows.  From Darton, Jennings, PSE, Hoyt, Browning, American, High Country and Mathews.  We used to shoot every tourney and league we could, both ring and 3-D.  I bet for 20 years I never shot less than 3 times a week for practices.

Seemed like every 2 years or so I would get a new bow.  But about 5 years ago I got my Mathews Conquest and have not had a craving to get any thing else since.  I like the longer compounds and my Conquest is smooth drawing, has good speed (shoots my Goldtips with 125 head at 265fps at 70 #s with a 29" draw).  I dont shoot tourneys anymore, just hunt.  But I dont think I will be getting another compound.

I own a Mathews Outback and love it. Don't forget the main difference between Mathews (single cam) and Hoyt (double cams). I know I know, Hoyt says cam and a half but what do you have if you have one big cam and one small cam ? One plus one !! Get it. Anyway my point is with Hoyt double cam you have timing issues, with Mathews cam timing doesn't exist.

Brig33,
I can't let all these guys steer you wrong.  I am a Hoyt guy, but did buy a Mathews Q2 a few years ago.  Long story short, that bow wouldn't hit the same spot twice.  I tried everything, but there was something wrong with that bow.  Went back to shooting a Hoyt and problem was solved.  The timing issue is just a play on words from Mathews.  They are big into advertising, but when I had one, it was just that, advertising.  The "no stretch string" stretched, the "no timing issue" was an issue.  I personaly wouldn't shoot another Mathews even if I was paid to.  Customer service was no help either and I live in WI.  Alot of guys like the Mathews, but not me.  Just bought a Hoyt Trykon the other day.  Very nice bow.  It's my 4th Hoyt.

Brig33, did you make you choice? I've got a Matthews Q2 and my Dad's got a Hoyt (don't know which model). They both shoot really well, and I'd probably have a tough choice if I had to choose again. I got the Matthews as a gift from my dad and have never had a problem with it. I love it. Still, I know he loves his Hoyt, so I'd be willing to bet it just comes down to personal preference and whether the one you get was put together right.
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

never mind, I saw the follow-up post where you said you got a used Hoyt, and the response I gave saying how good a deal a good used bow is. Man I'm tired :?

Both are great sticks.

I have found that my cam & 1/2 shots the best when I put it out of time.
keep your powder dry !!!
