77 MK II in 7x57
« on: December 17, 2005, 03:26:57 PM »
I've come across a 77 MK II (wood/walnut) in 7x57 topped with a Bushnell Elite 3000 3x9.  Both rifle and scope are in "like new" condition.  I doubt that it's even been fired.  Asking price is $500.  Anyone have any thoughts on this combo and price?  Any 7x57 is hard to come by in my area and more so in "like new" condition.

In my area the Ruger 77 are going for a little over $500 new and a 3-9X Bushnell 3200 scope is about $175 new.  The 7x57 is a wonderful cartridge, as good as the 270's and such with less recoil.  If you like the rifle I don't think you would go wrong.
Good Shooting,
George

$500 sounds like a great deal to me for the rifle and scope. The Ruger 77 is one of my favorite centerfire rifles and the 7x57 is my first choice for hunting  whitetail deer.

while i dont think the price is a steal, it does seem fair.

i have had bad expereinces with ruger pistols, and because of that, i dont hold ruger in as high of regard as i used to.   that being said,  i still love their m77 rifles.   they are a solid design, and easy to work on to get a good trigger.

i agree with the first half of your sentance,  but the 270 has a definate edge over the 7x57.    but the 7x57 does what it is supposed to do, and does it well.
