Savage 219C questions.
« on: December 17, 2005, 03:32:13 PM »
Anyone know anything about these guns. I know the 219's are well known shooters, but the one I'm looking at is a little different and unique. Case hardened receiver w/ the rifle sights removed and a scope mounted with rimfire setup in the dovetail slots on the barrel. Apparently the cocking mechanism engages when the barrel is broke open at the breech after firing. 30-30 w/26" barrel tho, that's a plus. Got a semi-good condition Weaver K-4 on it too. Can probably get out the door with this one for around $250. Good deal?

I have a Savage 219 in .22 Hornet - great little guns, however they are getting hard to find.  The asking price on yours seems pretty reasonable. Enjoy it!

Savage Model 219-B
« Reply #2 on: January 16, 2006, 05:20:41 AM »
Hello
I have a model 219-B in 30-30. It was made in 1965 and is a virtual tack driver with the hand loads I use in it. The one you speak of sounds AFTER the one I have and only the Later ones HAD the grooved scope rail. Here is a picture of Both my 219-B and a RARE 220 Trap Model first year issue of 1937. I hope this helps. Hammerdown.
