New version of City Select
« on: December 17, 2005, 04:38:18 PM »
I saw that there is an updated version of City Select. Does anyone know if there are any major advantages over the older version? My wife asked me if I wanted the new one for Christmas, but I'm not sure if it's worth $150 or not.

You might try going to the Garmin Map Viewer and check out areas of interest.

I suspect that most map programs in rapidly developing areas are a few years behind contruction.  I would not expect to see streets contructed in the last 3 to 5 years to show up.  The old established areas will not change much.  At the price you may want to wait for a couple more updates.

I just checked Yahoo maps and it does not show newer streets in this area.

I realize it is after Christmas but I just ran across a note on a vendors page that City Navigator North America v7 DVD has replaced City Select.  Internet price about $119.00
