Just wondering if any of you use a separate cleaning rod when cleaning at  home instead of the Omega supplied aluminum one....like fiberglass or another material...

Is it preferred to use another type to prevent any barrel damage?

Thanks, Dave

I use a couple of longer range rods at the range when shooting the Omega as the carry ramrod is way too short to be used for general cleaning as I usually remove the breechplug and do most of the cleaning from the breach end to eliminate the possibility of affecting the muzzle of the rifle. With the QLA I think this concern is probably not as important as with a rifle that has full rifleing all the way to the muzzle. I have added the newer (aluminum rather than plastic) T/C handle that goes on the end of the stock ramrod and folds along the ramrod when not being used. The older style made of plastic were too easy to break and did not fit the Omega without reshaping the barrel channel in the handle. The aluminum ones are the way to go and give you enough handle to be able to load in the field with the stock rod.

Same here.  Dewey rods make cleaning time much easier!  I also use it at the range for swabbing between shots.
