Problems with my Cimarron
« on: December 19, 2005, 09:50:22 AM »
I have an 1873 copy that keeps having light primer strikes. It happens about once every other cylider. The rounds fire the second time through usually. Is the firing pin supposed to wiggle around in the hammer or should it be tight? I made sure all my primers are fully seated and it even happens with factory loads. When I take the cylinder out and dry fire I can see the firing pin comes out plenty far. I checked the hammer pin and it is not catching on the frame when hammer drops. Any ideas this is ruining my Christmas.

Some of these  clones have a hammer blocking safety device that prevents firing when the trigger is not pulled. These sometimes cause problems.. Check the revolver for such a device. They most often can be seen if one looks down into the hammer slot or under the firing pin on the hammer face. A little wobble won't hurt the firing pin as long as the pin clears the hole in the breech.
