44 special hunting ??

I bought a used 44 special 10" barrel for my contender last week and it also had about 750 brand new rounds of 260gr cast lead flat points running at 1000fps of the contender 10" barrel. Do you guys think this is enough gun for shooting whitetail deer(70lb to 160lb dressed weight around here) at ranges maybe to 75 yards tops?
