260 rem ammo. Where can I find some variety?
« on: December 21, 2005, 12:47:09 PM »
I have a 700 mountain rifle in 260 rem. All I can find within reasonable driving distance are 140gr. Core Lokts.  I would like to find some very light bullets for varmints and some 100-120gr. to get some more velocity for deer(not that it really needs it , just because) . If you could point out some good onling sources I would sure appreciate it.  Anyone know why Remington chose those looong 140's for this caliber?

       Thanks!

You can always start reloading. I load 6.5 x 55 ammo (.264) -same bullet as your .260 in 95gr to 160 gr.   I like the 120 gr. the best for accuracy in the 1 in 8 twist barrels.  If you know a reloader you trust with your life, you might get them to load you up a batch.  Personally I don't like the idea of shooting someone else's reloads.  You can order ammo about as cheap as you can buy them over the counter so I would go on line and see what you can find.
