rabbit gun / boys rifle
« on: December 21, 2005, 08:20:09 PM »
Driving past gunshop today stopped in & couldn't resist a neat little Anschütz.
Reminds me of the rabbit guns of my childhood but this is maybe from the 70's. When paper work is back & I collect it will post pics. Meanwhile would appreciate more info.

- anschütz ligtweight bolt action single shot .22lr - a cheap rifle in its day
- walnut coloured dark brown varnish
- pressed steel trigger
- hooded front sight

Shoot me an email, or message when you post a pic, I have numerous Savage Catalogs from the late 60's to late 70's, if I can match the pic to a gun in the catalog, I can scan the page for you, and email it, that way you'll have the basic specs on it.
Sincerely,
 Garry

paperwork returned - picked up the little annie - called into range on way home - this is one nice little rifle
do not expect it to shoot like my 54.18 but shooting off bags next week will confirm what looks like good accuracy

no access to camera today so pic below is of same model off web (mine is in near perfect nick)

on top of barrel
Anschütz-Modell1386
Cal. .22 long rifle

on left side breech end of barrel (very small)
stamp70stamp
is this year of manufacture?

on left side of receiver
stamp881868
Made by J. G. Anschütz GmbH. Waffenfabrik.Ulm/D West Germany

would still like some more info
anyone own one?
confirmation of date of manufacture?

thanks
bob

Back at the range

My ageing eyes found the open sights a bit of a struggle
Off the bench I  mananaged 5 shot groups of 2.5 in. @ 50 metres - this will be improved by adjusting action screw and finding ammo it likes
Was a real pleasure to shoot offhand and consistently put 10 shots into 6 in. plate

Still like some more info
Has been suggested to me on another forum:-
"I was of the opinion that the last two digits in the seriel # was the year of manufacture so would be 1968"
However my 54.18 has last two numbers of 21 so ???
