I'd go with the old adage...You get what you pay for...How much is that Barska going for?  Seems like they would be on par with BSA and some of the Tasco line...They can probably handle the 223 recoil but how clear and concise are the optics?

This article is a little dated - but full of wisdom.  The author shows how to choose a "better" cheap scope, why cheap scopes usually are not really so cheap, and offers other insights.  A must-read for anyone contemplating buying a "cheap scope".

Thanks for the info guys , Most of my shooting has been with iron sites .

I have a Bushnell Banner 3x9 on my 223 right now and a Bushnell 4x on my 22lr.

I am planning to use the 223 for PD's this spring and need more power than the 3x9 gives me .

Had a BSA on my S&W 41 mag. , It lasted a whole 9 shots till it came apart , Don't think i'll buy a BSA again .  :(

I do see what you mean about you get what you pay for .

I've looked around at many cheap/inexpensive scopes. But I believe there are too many reasons to look at more reputable companies lower line scopes, than to go bottom names with no name.
Meuller's are quickly establishing a name for themselves, and the prices are excellent.

Still too much? Then I say look into Bushnells- Banner, Trophy, and better yet, Legend series.

Cheap scopes are not worth the hassle.  Your eyes will hate you after looking through the bottom of a coke bottle all day.  Going with a better scope in lower mag range would be a wiser choice.  I would take a 16x with decent glass over a 24x with trash glass ANYDAY. AT the very least, get a scope with a lifetime/ transferable warrenty.  Buying a used scope would be another option. The guys over here ussually have some good used stuff cheap.
