Merry Christmas to one and all.  First off let me say I really appreciate all the information I have found here.  

Now, I want to add a 45/70 barrel to my "Target Classic" and get  longer range at a reasonable cost.

Does anyone know the rifling diamesions, twist and chamber dimensions for the 45/70 Buffalo?

I have just gone through a very humbling learning curve (read that lesson) with the 38-55 and made some real 'doozey' mistakes (and likely stupid posts) trying to go out past 200 yards with the 38-55 shooting Black Powder.   It will be a great under 200 rifle one I correct a couple of things and for the longer stuff.....the tried and true 45/70 seems to be the way to go.  But this time I want to know a little more before I start buying stuff......(read that I just got smarter)

The 45-70 twist rate is 1:20" as stated in the FAQ, chamber throats are short so loading long range bullets will cost you if shooting black powder, those that want to shoot black and long range usually have the throat deepening with a throating reamer. Shooting smokeless won't be a problem, though. Another option is to have it reamed to 45-90 or 45-120 or something in between as several members have done, mine was to 45-120. Best recommendation for bore dimensions is to slug the bore to find out what to size cast bullets to. Most shoot .459-.460" very welll.

Topper, here's some additional

•  Barrel - 32" with a 1:20 rifling twist
•   Bore -  0.450 and 0.456 grooves
•   My Bore – Actual 0.4525 and 0.454 grooves
•   Chamber Diameter and Length - TO DO

The factory uses Winchester 405gr smokeless for testing.  And as said, shooting BPRC rounds with long spitzer noses is a PITA because of the short leede into the rifling.  A Lyman 457125 - 500gr bullet will be just fine though using a 2.095 trimmed case.
