can I use a castiron pot to melt my w-w to get the clips off and put into ingets molds for easyer handling :oops:

Yes,-------cast iron is no problem.

lisa1lacy2 what ever you do DO NOT USE A ALUMINUM POT to melt lead in I did once and thank god I got thirsty when I did and went inside the house to get a drink that is whan it busted open and had bout 100 pounds of lead all over the place if I had been standing there I would of had a trip to the hospital I an quite shure of that so by all means do use a cast iron pan to melt your lead in just don't use it for cooking ever again

If you have a lid for the cast iron pot use that also, will speed up the heating of the lead quit a bit. I'd recomend that you label each batch somehow, letters, numbers etc. that way most of the bullets made with each lot will weigh pretty close to the same. Peter aka pistolfan

On the subject of splashing lead, Never Ever wear anything synthetic while you are smelting or casting. I made the mistake of wearing nylon tennis shoes once while making ingots. One small splash (~1 teaspoon) later and I had a 1" hole in the top of my nylon shoe. My cotton sock stopped the lead and prevented an outright burn, but I had one heck of a hotfoot. Wear leather boots and cotton jeans minimum.

goatlips where can I get one of those circus critters moulds that is a good idea you had in painting them and using them for papper weights and giveing them to your lead sources thank you very much
