Buying an encore question
« on: December 28, 2005, 07:22:19 AM »
I am going to buy an encore next week.  Looking to get a stainless .50 with a synthetic stock.  What should I look for on the gun to make sure I don't get a bad one, if that is possible?  Thanks for your help.

Try to find one with a laminated stock set. I bought mine with a synthetic stock. In my opinion that was the only weak point with my gun. I replaced mine with a Boyds Laminated set after the first hunting season.

buy the encore as a handgun if you can, thiw way you can take full advantage of the encore system, you can always sell the pistol barrel and get the muzzle loading barrel you want.

That's a GREAT point.  I didn't realize that I had to do it that way at first.  My gun dealer recomended the same thing,  so I ended up buying the .308 pistol (which is sweet), then the muzzleloader gear.  I took a nice deer on a recent trip to Illinois with it, and can't wait to experiment with loads and bullets!

I bought 6 of them and never got a bad one. I still have 4 Encore's and my buddy has my other 2. All are great shooters.  :D
