Also a little off topic but,---------now would be a good time to buy up all the standard cap magazines that you can afford. In a couple of years they may be unavailable AGAIN. I'm sure most of you guys remember the prices they sold for back then. Might be a GOOD investment!

That is the exact reason I just bought 10 more on top of the 10 we already have. Back in 1995 when I first took the CCW Class here in Arizona, there was a guy in the class who paid $110.00 each for 2 Hi-Cap 9MM Glock mags. Now, $13.99.  Bill T.

got a 21 and 20 !
for hunting with a rifle i carry the 10 mm as a back up .
shoots flatter than 45 . both work ok !
would opt. for night sights as they are steel not plastic .
had a buddy carry one for over a year , in his pocket . when tried to rack the slide it was stuck ! ( he works construction ) , he fired it and it worked ! i think he hit the slide with a hammer to loosen it first !
abused - yes !
but it worked !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

One thing about the Glock 21 that would make it one tough handgun for ranch use is the fact that it is overbuilt for the 45 acp. I also really like the large selection of ammunition we have to choose from.At the upper end I would think that the 230 grain +P loads would have enough power for about any thing you would need a handgun for on the ranch.

I have a Mod 21.  I see that you can buy a barrel setup to shoot 10mm in it.  but after some research I saw that it is not recommended.  Although you can go from Mod 20 10mm to .45acp safely and easily.  Maybe a trade or just buy another one I guess.  I would like a 10mm for deer hunting.
Has anyone ever tried shooting a deer with a .45?  My shots would be under 50yd.

I know it's been done (with a lot less), but on deer I'd rather use a caliber that is meant to kill four-legged game, and not two-legged game. However, at close range with a Thompson . . . .  :o     (Just kidding folks, don't get excited!) ;D

Although you can go from Mod 20 10mm to .45acp safely and easily.

You might have a problem going to .45 with a Glock 20, as the breech face is too small for the .45 case head.

a guy i went to school with killed some deer with one , things were different in the early 70's and alot of us hunted on school grounds . anyway most had a gun in their car . he had a colt 45 and would shoot deer on the way to school .
worked for him !
off subject - we had so much hunting and fishing and sports to do we didn't have time to get in trouble ! then girls came along and we didn't have time for the other 3 !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

When you say 45 Colt I get confused.  If you mean 45LC in a revolver that is quite different than a 45 ACP in a 1911.  I would and do hunt with 45LC.  45ACP would not be my first choice.  I can load up the LC in my Contender or my original Vaquero to rival a 44 Mag.  The 45 ACP, my first choice for home defense, can't get nearly as hot.

I am not clear on this.  You can shoot 357 sig in a .40 cal Glock.  (different barrel) And can you shoot .40 s&w in a 10mm Glock?   So If you bought a 10mm Glock you could shoot 357 sigl. .40 and 10mm with a barrel change.  Is this correct?

prairiedog555,
That is correct, you would need a .40 and a .357 barrel to put you in business. They share a common case head dia.

since I posted the question on the Glock Mod 20 I did some research and indeed you can easily and safely shoot 10mm .40sw and .357 sig in a mod 20 with a barrel change only.

http://www.glockworld.com/barrels.htm

as well as any other 10mm firearm that they sell xtra barrels for.  That makes it very flexible.

I'm on my 2nd Glock 10mm.This one is a G20c.I love the 10mm ,considerable more power than a 45acp just ask Uncle Ted Nugent ,he's hunted all over with his Glock 20.Go for the doubletap ammo for hunting also.I find the 10mm very pleasant to shoot and alot lighter than my S&W M29 44mag Mountain Gun.Its great for a woods gun here in upstate NY where we have as many 2 legged predators as we do dangerous 4 legged ones.In a pinch i wouldn't hesitate to shoot a blackbear with one.I also purposely hunt whitetail with mine..
