T-900, how can you tell?
« on: December 28, 2005, 08:39:08 PM »
Howdy all,

Bought a Marlin 917v off a guy last year that was hard up for money. Gun has been a great shooter with one .61'' group at 100 yards off the bench. Proved its worth on northern VA foxes as well. Although it shoots great I think the trigger is holding it back some ( I hate factory triggers  :x  ) so I was looking at the rifle basix triggers. I assume the gun is not a pre-2004 rifle so I would need the rifle basix MAR-917. Is there a quick way to tell if it is a post-2004 t-900 trigger?

Just to add to the question alittle:
I pic up my 917VSF in a couple of day's, it has the T-900 trigger.
What is a T-900 trigger, is it any better or just a fancy name for it's still junk :?

The 917XX has the T-900 trigger, biggest difference tween it and the old style is the safety, the old style is pretty cheesy in comparison, had detents in the side of the receiver instead of an over-center mechnism as in the T-900. You need the MAR-917 RB trigger....Midsouth at $66 has the best regular price on it if Midway doesn't still have it on sale for $60.

Here's a DIY trigger job if you want to try it first to save some $$......
