TANG SIGHT ON A (TANGLESS) RIFLE
« on: December 29, 2005, 12:37:01 AM »
:D
I ALSO MADE THIS POST TO THE SSR FORUM BUT THOUGHT PERHAPS SOMEONE HERE MAY ALSO SHED SOME USEFUL LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT.
I HAVE A BRNG. 1885 STANDARD STRAIGHT GRIP MODEL IN 45-70 WHICH I INTEND TO KEEP BUT ME OLD PEEPERS WON'T LET ME MAKE MUCH USE OF THE STANDARD SIGHTS ANYMORE.
I'VE SUCCESSFULLY USED TANG MOUNTED PEEPS ON A COUPLE LEVER ACTIONS AND WOULD LIKE TO INSTALL ONE ON THIS BROWNING.
MARBLE'S WEBSITE ON THEIR SPECS PAGE FOR SIGHTS LIST MODEL NO. 009813 AS BEING FOR THE BROWNING 1885 W/O THE TANG.
I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS EVER INSTALLED ONE OF THESE AND/OR IF ANYONE HAS SOME USEFUL IDEAS ABOUT THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.  I'M ASSUMING IT WOULD HAVE TO BE INLETTED INTO THE GRIP PERHAPS???  I'D BE WILLING TO DO THAT BUT WOULD LIKE TO READ FEEDBACK FROM ANYONE WHO MAY HAVE EXPERIMENTED WITH A SIMILAR INSTALLATION BEFORE SPENDING THE MONEY FOR THE SIGHT.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS.
Temper is a quality that at a critical moment brings out the best in steel and the worst in people.
