On a new 1911a1 is there any way to avoid shooting 1,000rds thru it to break it in? What should be the norm to break in a 1911a1 how many rounds?
Can the frame rails and slide grooves just be polished?
If not than what makes a well broken in, well used, rattle trap 1911a1 so dam reliable. My two new colts never worked great, my new springers aren't so good too. I never shot them enough to break them in. But my chinese norinco cycles flawlessly and never jams, it loves to eat wolf ammo. Is there a way I can make my new springers just as reliable without shooting them? I hate to take everyone out and put 1,000rds thru it to break them in.
When we were building race car engines we would start them up, warm them up, adjust them and hold the throttle wide open for 30 seconds to seat the rings and then they were broken in and good to go. There has to be some tricks to break in a 1911a1 rather than shooting it.
