I got out bid in the final minutes on that TC Scout, guess I'll go with the Cabella's Rolling Block look a like, I just don't care for the bolt action, or plastic stock type in-lines. I like traditonal firearms as far as BP is concerned. Then again I aint in no hurry, hunting season don't start till October out here. RR

Yes, I know what you mean about last minute bids. I believe the term is called "sniping." The way around it is to bid your max, and if the bid goes over that, then you didn't want the item at that price.

I thought I wanted a Scout until I saw the grief a couple of shooters went through at the range. One guy with the pistol version could not get the thing to fire with a Pyrodex load to save himself. The unique nipple design precluded him trying a hotter musket cap, or switching to a 209 primer. The rifle shooter who also had a misfire had to dissassemble his rifle down to parade rest and start over. Seems the difficulty in ignition was not an isolated incident. They sure did look neat, though.

You may be better off with the Cabelas rifle.

Well Bob, ya sure made me feel better, ya could've added that TC no longer makes them, and the factory burned down and there are no parts available. But I'll settle for what ya said. I like the looks of that Cabella's rolling block, wish I could hear from someone that has one, but they are a pretty new item. Guess I could be the first one on the block. RR

There is a TC Scout rifle on Gunbrocker and a pistol on Auctionarms out there right now. I see rifles on these auctions all the time...the pistols are a little scarce.

I own and regularly shoot a .54 TC Scout pistol. Bought mine through an auction...a real cherry. It goes off EVERY TIME. But, I am kinda of anal about picking the nipple between shots and I always use Remington caps...they seem hotter. NO PROBLEMS to date. When loaded up it's a real handful...a real head-turner on the range too!

Chris, Thanks guess I'll check out the gunbroker, they've got one on Guns America also but it's got the plastic stock and the dealer is kind of evasive in describing the condition. I'll check-out gunbroker. RR

You're right about keeping the nipple clean between shots.Don't store the piece loaded overnight,"consider"using 3Fg instead of 2Fg Goex[reduce charge by 20-25%],also consider using CCI#11 Magnum or RWS caps.
They are temperamental,but where else is there a single shot m/ling pistol that you use as heavy a charge??

Well folks, I done found me a brand spanking new one in the box, with all the papers etc. for a measely $229.00 + shipping=$249.00. Don't believe I'll mess with those durn auctions no more. Some of those sellers think they have a pure gold specimen of some sort, and the buyers remind me of the mindset of a lot of gamblers here in Nevada, they is gonna win at all cost, just to say they won a $100 bucks but it cost 'em $500 to do it. Anybody else get that impression? Or am I just a sore sport? Anyway, I should get it in the mail this coming week. RR

Congratulations. Sounds like a good price to me. I think you got a good deal there. Hope it lives up to your expectations......but keep the nipple clean and bust a cap before loading it to make sure the channel is clear.

Does sound like you got a great deal. Recommend you buy an extra TC Scout nipple/plug assy for your possibles bag. It might come in handy some day and they aren't readily available. I think WholesaleHunter has them...if you can't find one locally.

I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with your new toy...let us now how it performs.

Chris, I pulled up Wholesale Hunter, and got into the muzzleloader section, but I didn't see anything on a breech plug or nipple for a Scout. Is there some other place on that site that I might find that? Sounds like a good idea to have an extra. RR

Kittery Trading Post has several used Scouts, not that it matters now that you found a new one. But http://ktpguns.com/index.html might be a good site to keep in your favorites as they often have some pretty good buys. Just click on Search, then select BP, Any, Any and then on Search again.

They might also help with parts but you would have to email them. Pretty substantial dealer just outside Kittery, Me. I bought my first muzzleloader there about 31 years ago. :-)

I thank ya Chris and Underclocked, I'm sure I'll reference them in the near future. Just ordered some flints and other accessories from DGW, on my next order I'm going to get a couple extra nipples. Sounds like they have some really good deals on guns, and a bunch at that, over 1230. Best prices I've seen, where are they located? Thanks again RR
