Uberti Highwall Range Report

OK got a marbles tang sight for the 1885 45-70, kept the original front sight on.  Went to range to shoot at paper for the first time and get it sighted in. Using the medium peep the first group 3shots @ 50yds was in about a 1/2".   Messed around moving the sights for several shots and then put up a new target and let the barrel cool off.  Next group was 3 shots @ 50yds in one hole that measured .630 at the widest point so thats about a .17" group center to center.   Got so excited I forgot to shoot at 100yds, have to do that next time.  That was with factory Federal 300 grain load.   Then I shot some with the Remington 405 grain factory load and it was about a 1" group at 50yds.  The limb saver slip-on recoil pad was wonderful for shooting off the bench.
