My m15 will not shoot double action
« on: January 01, 2006, 05:26:11 PM »
I bought my Dan Wesson M15 about 11 years ago from the pawnshop and it shoot great single action but it will not fire double action ( light primer strike ) and I tried Federal primer, Winchester and CCI the misfire will be vary from 1 shot to all 6 shot and if I cock the hammer and shoot it single action all the round will fire. What part that I need to replace? and where can I obtain the instruction with picture on how to do it ?

Sounds to me like either the hammer spring is weak or gummed up.  Wolff Springs has a replacement if needed.  Here are instructions for dissasembly as well as tuning up the DW med frame.

I had this exact problem.. An easy fix. I just replaced the main spring. I ordered it from e guns I beleive. I have also seen tune up kits offered.. These tune up kit offer the main spring as well as another spring. I beleive trigger return.. Anyways it is a easy fix. The new spring I recieved was shorter but a much heavier wire.. Installed and worked great. I actualy have a picture of the inner workings of the model 14/15. When you install the spring, dont tighten the screw that tensiones it too much as it will bind thinsg up. This was a 15 dollar fiz.. If you need more info.. just post here.. I check these posts frequently. One this tired spring is replaced you should be very happy. It may have been Numrich Gun parts I ordered it from. Take care and good shooting. Mine would not shoot reliably double action with light primer strikes. Shot better single action..but not perfect. I think the hammer comes back a little more on single action giving it a bit more striking force.
