"Shot one yesterday! I was of course exspecting it to be a piece of (well less than desirable"if you know what I mean. Got to admit,, it shot well. Accuracy was excelent. dug a nice hole behind my target.. It function well with no jams what so ever. Once the mag did not lock back the slide.. No I didn't hit the release with my thumb. That was the only hitch. I only shot 30 rounds or so, so this is far from a thouugh test. The grip was alittle strange as it was an odd shaped wood. All in all,, not bad at all. It also had a strange feel when the slide would snap foward chambering the first round.. But it worked. My friend shot up about another 40 .. no jams.
impressed despite its cheapish look..

I take it you mean "Rock Island" and NOT "Rock River"?

Rock River makes some of the finest 1911 semi-custom guns money can buy. It must be another brand.

Hey, Darrell, I see you're from Auburn. :D  I happen to do my shooting in Auburn at the Androscoggin County Fish & Game Assoc.

Interesting to hear about the Rock Island 1911.  Do you know of a dealer in this area who stocks them?

The rock Island pistol was a friends. I am not too sure as to where he got it. They are all over the internet. I buy most of my guns thru Auction Arms or Gun broker. Can find most anything there. Have had great luck with all my purchases. Hell , I have even gotten a few steals.
