Ruger Vaquero 38-40
« on: January 03, 2006, 04:55:15 AM »
I have a project in mind and I want to ask what your thoughts and suggestions might be.
I’ve got a Ruger Vaquero Bisley 357 and want to end up with a 38-40 Vaquero Bisley.

I also have access to a Blackhawk 38-40 (adjustable sights). However, the Blackhawk sights will not work for me. And, I prefer the grips on the Bisley.

So, which way is the best to go?

1. Convert the Bisley by changing out the barrel and reaming 357 the cylinder out to 38-40 or just insert the 38-40 Blackhawk into the Vaquero.

2. Modify the Blackhawk by adding my Bisley grips and having the frame and sights modified so gun looks the same as the Vaquero.

3. Other options?

Modifying the bisley to 38-40 would likely be cheaper and easier than alter the blackhawks sight to the bisley's fixed sights. Of course the question that begs aasking is 'why? The 38-40 is more trouble to load for, no major inprovement in performance, so why bother?  No flame,,just curious..
