New laws target guns, drugs

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Stiffer gun and drug laws are among hundreds of new Illinois laws that take effect today.

One law requires trigger-lock mechanisms to be included with the sale of any gun. Another bars people from buying stun guns or tasers unless they have a Firearm Owners I-D card.

Some crimes involving unlawful use of a weapon will now land offenders in jail, rather than a probation sentence.

Another new law says cold medicines that can be used to make methamphetamine must be kept behind the counter and sold only to people with a valid I-D.

And authorities can now fine methamphetamine makers and users an extra one-hundred dollars, with the money going to help police fight meth.

*FW Note:

What, have they had some kinda rash of desperate cold-sufferers using unregistered tasers to try and relieve excess sinus pressure or something?

Just one more tool for self-defense put out of the casual reach of innocent people who might need it.

Gotta get big brother's permission, right?

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.
