Scoping my Ruger MKIII 22/45
« on: January 04, 2006, 08:47:26 AM »
I bought a MKIII 22/45 a little while back used. Great little pistol, it's the 4" model, blued. Only thing is it didn't come with the scope rail it was suppose to. So looking for a way to not spend as much by ordering straight from the factory, I was looking around for rails that fit.

Anyone know where I can find the correct rail for mine?

I found this one:

Any feed back would help.

First is the top of the receiver drilled and tapped???

Second---the Weigand is WAAAY more expensive than the Ruger aluminium rail.

  :?  I must have over looked that on the site, my bad.
But yes it is drilled and tapped like all MKIIIs. I think I might put a small Red Dot on it..maybe. Still undecided.
I would love to hear from some of our members that have scoped out their MK2 or 3s

I bought a new Mk III Hunter last year.  I like the Tru Glo sights for fast aquisition, yet can't get too fine due to the sub par dot. As an experiment. I mounted a cheap BSA dot sight.  It is very accurate, but might opt for a scope for even more precision.  Also, I'd love to carry this rig more in the woods, but haven't been able to find suitable leather with the dot scope.  You may consider this before mounting optics.  So far, mine is  arange gun, and, if I'm in the woods, I'm physically carrying it, or holstering a Ruger single six.  In retrospect, I may haved been better off with the factory irons, even with my eyes.  I guess it all depends on what you are looking to do with your new pistol, and how good your eyes are.
