Mystery call
« on: January 04, 2006, 04:20:19 PM »
After rummaging through a drawer at my house I came across a predator call and have not the slightest idea what it is supposed to mimic or how to use it. It has a flat black rubber squeeze ball and a reed body and when compressed makes a high pitch squeal. How something like this got into my house I am unsure of due to the fact that nobody in my entire family varmint hunts however that is about to change. Any info on how to use it and what it is supposed to sound like would be greatly appreciated.

+2 mouse squeaker.

Used to finesse dogs in the last few yards. Although I've heard of guys calling dogs with just a squeaker alone.

How do you use it as in long drawn out squeeks or short bursts?

It looks like you have come upon a mouse squeeker of some kind which will work OK on a lot of coyotes. Just squeeze it and try to think what a mouse would sound like if you stepped on his #$%$ good luck on your calling :D ...........Joe............

Are you sure it is a predator call? Could it possibly be a Hootchie Mama?

I have a Squirrel Bark call that is a plastic tube with a rubber bulb ball
on the end.  Hold the plastic tube and tap  the bulb on something and
it makes a nice bark. sounds kinda like what you described in appearance.
Use it when a gray flattens out on top of a limb, and he will poke his head up almost every time! 17 M2 takes over the show from there!

well, it sounds like a wierd lookin rodent squeaker. But I have found and have used things out of toys that the kids have that makes noises and I adapt them to my needs.even a nice ole white bunny that I cut open and inserted a ball lookin thing that moved around on the floor.sewed her up and turn it on and the rabbit rolls around like its hurt.yes my daughter saw it.and I was in trouble.
But my beagle rips open toys that have squeaker in them.and there is a bunch of differnt kinds.I find them all over the yard and house.are my kids are them making noises with them.some of them look like grunt tubes.
And a rodent squeaker is all you need sometimes to bring foxes and filthy coyotes in.if they are in hearin range they come right on in.most folks just use the predator calls. an elk call blown to sound like a rabbit gettin eaten alive works great on coyotes.I have a .223 ackly improved case that I put a closed reed in the neck and put a light crimp on with the lee factory crimp die.and cut the rim area off just where the case goes into it.That works sweet.had one big ole female come running right into me when I saw her I started callin real soft with it.I was sittin in a bush I hollowed out to getin the middle of.she came right up to the bush and put her nose almost in the barrel of the ole H&K 630.
my huntin rifle is safe from confiscation only while my battle rifle protects it.
