Dad came home yesterday!
« on: January 07, 2006, 12:58:08 AM »
Well, took 10 days, but Pop finally came home from his by-pass surgery yesterday.  He has therapy and some prostate problems to work through, but aside from that, he is doing fine.  No special diets, just rest and re-charge and he'll be good as new.

Thank you all for the prayers, kind words and support.  They were all appreciated and helped.

Thanks, again.

Rich

Glad to hear that he is home, recovery does better at home.  Just don't do like my family did me when I came home.  They tried to keep me in bed too much.  Let him up when he feels like getting up, He's the one that knows how he feels.  If he starts to over do it his body will tell him.  When I had my by-pass, my family tried to keep me down for a lot longer than I needed to be.  But he does need the drugs for pain management.  That was the most excruating pain I have ever had.  Broken bones are nothing compared to what he went through.  I had my by-pass the first week of June, the following August I drove my track rig 32 miles alone for a Moose hunt.  In other words after recovery he will not be an invalid like some people think, he can do anything he did before, I do.  It's just he will have to undergo a lifestyle change on the way he eats and exercises.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
