SuperField and Superlite Powders
« on: March 11, 2003, 03:05:41 PM »
I have a can of each of these powders. Superlite and Superfield. Used it in a wildcat auto pistol cartridge, a 10mm based on the .45 ACP necked down to 10 mm.  Can find no data on either of these powders. I bought them 10 years ago.

Can anyone shed any light on them. Can they be used in the .44 Magnum?

I don't feel as if either are useful for either a .44 Mag. or .44 Spl. loading.

I have had good luck using 7.5 or 8 grains of WSF with a 240 cast SWC in my .44 S&W mountain gun.

I use 3.2 grains of WSL in .38 with a 158 gr. cast SWC. WSL is not marketed anymore so I wouldn't get too carried away to find a good load for it if I only had one lb. Don't remember exact velocities of either load. It seems like the .44 load is around 750fps.

Superfield is a little slower than Unique so I use Unique data. I don't load max loads for Unique data with SF for any cartridge I load for and I get good results. I load 13gr of SF under a 210gr bullet in my .44 mag for my hunting load.
