I have a problem with my 1895g shooting almost 4 ft low @ 100yrds.  That is with a scope that is centered.  Now it is hard to find a scope that can make that much correction.  I know you can shim it.  I have just never seen a rifle so far off.  Is this common?  I know it is not a scope, ring or base issue.  It is a rifle problem.  Anyone seen this before.

SentryFE, I doubt very seriously your 1895 is out of line. I think you should check your Scope bases and rings. there has to be something a way out of line to cause this, Check your Bases to make sure you have them on correctly. Please let us know what you find out. :D .............Joe...........

FE welcome ,it is not a rifle problem it is scope,rings etc ,take the bolt out and bore sight it in a locked position and look through both bore and scope.

I have tried 4 sets of rings and 2 styles of bases.  Weaver and Leopold.  3 different scopes,  factory and handloads. All with same result.

How does it shoot with iron sights?  Ran into a similar problem with my # 1 when loading high velocity rounds in the 45-70.  Ruger sent a lower front sight.  Solved that problem.  Have to say though, with a scope it is right on.

I have the same thing happening with my 1895.......but with weaver see thru rings I had to shim it .025 to get the Leupold to zero......

I'm thinking I don't need the scope on that gun anyway and will probably go to a williams ghost ring setup........maybe........

I sure don't like the see thru scope mounts.........when things happen fast, my cheek goes to the stock and then the scopes to high.......caused me to miss a fast shot on a running deer so I've decided I've either got to get the scope lower or take it off.......

Anyway........let me know if you find a mount that works........that would save me some trouble.......that is, if I keep the scope on that gun.......

i have the same problem with my guide gun in 45-70 but with the factory sights, it shot about 3 feet low at 25,50,and 100 yards.
i read somewhere that marlin let a few 1895s get out the door with the wrong sights on them so i called them up and expained the problem and they kindly admited to this and have sent me the proper sights for my gun.. as of now they are in the mail..i called them on feb.7. i will post how it shoots when i get them here and let everyone know the results..
i want to tell you that i bought this gun used and it had only been shot 2 or 5 times prior to me getting it, i even told marlin that, and it was no problem.. my first experince with there service dept. and i have to say they are top notch !!

Several years ago I bought a new Ruger 77 stainless in 308. Rifle shot left 9 inches at 25 yards with the windage ajusted all the way to the right on a Leopold Vari-X III. Put a Simmons Atec on it. Same problem. Ruger sent me custom rings at no expense. Same problem. Sent the rifle back to them and got it back 2 and one half weeks later with a note that said POINT OF AIM POINT OF IMPACT. The barrell was either cross threaded or the receiver face wasn't square. They wouldn't say. It can and does happen. Had a Winchester 94 in 45 long colt about 15 years ago that key-holed at 20 yards. Took it back and got my money back. Dealer said it had been a problem with that run of guns.

i got my new rear blade from marlin part # 39a/922m. ive only got to shoot it a few times since, but it seems to have fixed my problem it shoots dead on at 25,and 50 yards withbuffalo bore ammo 500gr,430gr and 350gr, i didnt have a chance to shoot any farther but im sure the problem is solved..
my next time out i will shoot target paper and up to 100 yards and more..
i will post more results when i have the chance ..jeff
