Email me at Leftoverdj@AOL.com and I'll tell you where .308 is hanging out these days. He can tell his own story, but the last I saw he was being attacked yet again by the same old crew. Next time I looked, he was gone and that thread was, too.

thanks leltoverdj i will EMAIL you.

i did get a PM from him on another site and he told me about what happened to him.it seems he just refused to take the crap from the three or four members that post on every subject here and now he cant log in anymore.

everyone knows who these three of four are as they seem to run the show here now.with their posts on every subject and with all the links and quotes that they post its hard to just skip over their posts.i dont  read much from these three or four but its had not to when they post on everything.it kind of takes the fun out of it for me,as you can tell i dont post on much here anymore.

I was real interested in .308's thread about the 30-30 Imp. and then grew somewhat dismayed when it appeared that you would need NASA, an act of congress, and MacGyver to pull off such a conversion. All this for a little handi rifle?

Now you tell me he got booted. Who booted him out? In my saved PMs it indicated he was a troublemaker on the NEF forums. What trouble did he make? Seems that disagreeing with someone about a little ol handi rifle shouldn't make one a troublemaker.  :?

its funny that the ones im talking about havnt posted their two cents on this subject yet?

it sure would be nice to see some posts from some of the others that dont post here anymore.one thing i have noticed with the posts from a few!they have honed their computer skills but thats about it

Chainsaw, the conversion to .30-30 AI is dead simple. .308 did it, was happy with the results, and then got attacked by armchair experts who had never done a rechamber and did not know the difference between a rimmed and a rimless case.

That happens constantly here, which is why I don't come around much anymore.

I'm sorry to see him gone too. He had worthwhile technical contributions to make, compared to so much of the "fluff" that some spread just to get their post numbers up. And I was surprised to see recent posts by mature board members defending/encouraging inflammatory posts by others. Yes, I think this forum has changed recently. But on the other hand, change is natural and should be expected. The subjects and posts are just going to reflect the personalities of the members as they come and go. It's just unfortunate that some of the ones that get tired of the hassles and go are some of the ones the forum needs the most.

But BANNED? If that happened, that's just petty. Just my opinion.

Yup, what more can I say.

I quit coming around here for much the same reasons as you did dj.

I got tired of that same gang trying to tell me I didnÂ’t know what I was talking about.   Maybe they were right, after all I only worked as a mechanical engineer at Boeing for 34 years.   I am sure Boeing couldnÂ’t tell I knew nothing.   Real sharp boys those same few guys areÂ… NOT.

At least I know where .308 is now and I still enjoy his company and shared wisdom.

i feel .308 was attacked by a few here and its to bad he is gone and they are not.a moderator and several members got into it with him about this 30-30ai rechamber.all he did was try to defend himself from them.there was also another topic where he kind of got into it with a few.again to bad he is gone and they are not.

this would be alot better place to visit if these few would cool their jets some.maybe a few less posts from them?maybe only posting on subjects that they have knowledge of?i have more respect for BIG MORTIE than i do these guys that im talking about.at least i read most of his posts :)

I am going to visit with .308 also!!!! I still like this place, it feels like a family and I will continue here if they allow me to. I cannot recall .308 (Lamar) as being a troublemaker or argumemtative in any way. There may have been differences of opinion but they are everywhere and those differences discussed openly like gentlemen is how we learn and grow. I really hope .308 was not banned or kicked out because if he was it can happen to any of us. I may be way off base here and I may have missed some of his posts where he is supposed to have done something wrong, but I do not recall his doing or saying anything wrong. As for the suggestion he have have argued or disagreed with the wrong certain few or "3 or 4" of the wrong people, That had better not have been the reason for being banned, for if it is, we are all doomed!!!!....<><.... :(

I come to this site at least 3-4 times a day.  Why?  Because I am always looking to learn from others.  Expecially those who have and enjoy Handi Rifles like I do.

Problem is, danged near EVERY post is answered by a few who seem to have all the answers about calibers THEY DON'T OWN!!!!!

Hey, I'm feeling brave tonight for some reason so here goes (rant on) ... a few of the moderators seem to be more interested in "having all the answers" and not letting anyone disagree with them.  Even if the have NO EXPERIENCE with that round in a Handi Rifle.

The thread that started the problems for .308 was the thread about the 30-30AI.  Yes some of them may have some knowledge of the 30-30AI but the DO NOT HAVE ONE in a Handi Rifle and CANNOT speak to how it works, and performs.

That is NOT moderating!  That is pushy, opinionated, and heavy handed.

I don't personally know why .308 got booted, but I do know how it started. (rant off)

He's a great guy and he should still be here.  I may be next, but I feel better now ...  :D
