I am in Pocatello, ID and I am wondering if anyone has seen any rock chucks or ground squirrels yet? Are the foxes and coyotes rubbing, and if so how badly?

Several hours north of you, up here in the Bitterroot there's nuttin but melting snow and magpies. And mud.
And some more mud.
Anxiously waiting for the first volunteer of Spring!

WOO-HOO!! Look at dat wouldja - the very next day after posting (above), the first gopher of the year is spotted!
Spring is marked up here not by the appearance of Robins but by gophers and road-killed skunks, it seems.
Never thot I'd get this excited over seeing a stinkin gopher. Either my life's gone to hell or I've gone senile. Or both.
Allow me to reiterate - WOO-HOO!!

I've seen lots of ground squirrels out over the past 3 weeks. Of course, we've had rain/snow the last week, so nothing happening now, but I would imagine good shooting is only a couple of days away.

Tom's right - the last two weekends I've been killing gophers almost as fast as I can work the bolt and load the mag.
Now where can I get some pre-ban 30 rounders for a Savage 93 in .17HMR? :-D
If that little 17 isn't the slickest little gizzie to come out in a while, well I just don't know what is. Almost as good as frosted Pop-Tarts.

The last thing I wanna hear is that the gophers are out...I have looked all over Virgina and haven't seen one yet...oh why did I leave Montana.
You just gave me a great Idea. Pull the .22lr bbl on my Rem 580 and put on a 17bbl and chamber it in 17 HMR. Single shot, no down time to load magazines, just chamber and shoot! Oh when I get back to Montana the gophers are gonna die!!!

Better hurry up DD! Real soon the grass'll be too high to see the little darlings and soon after that, they disappear 'til Spring!
Maybe my barrel will cool down by then
Perhaps I shoulda got the belt-fed, huh?
