are number 2 round jaw traps to big for racoon and fox

I hope not , I'm going to try them for fox and yotes this year .I heard guys using #2 dls for coon and like them so they might be ok .
If an animal activist is being mauled by a bear should we stop it , or , " let nature take its course?"

#2 coilspring traps are not the best trap for coon or fox.The reason is the jawspread.While the #2 is a good compromise for yote and fox,it would not be my first choice for fox and definately not coon.If you are going to use it as a water trap on a drowner it will work for coon.A better choice is a #1 1/2 coil or#1.65.
 The #2 longspring is in actuallity a# 1 1/2 with 2 springs.Check the jawspread on a #1 1/2 and #2 longspring---they are the same.  Tom

Dan, while under certain coditions you may need the jawspread of the #2 for fox,in a lot of areas it just is'nt needed.I always try to go with the smallest jawspread that will do a good job. Tom
