If you like studying rifles, and if you want to learn about more cartridges here is an excellent part of a very good website.    the article for week 60 is just out and tells about a relative newcomer establishing a record of 1.071 inches at 600 yards with some "outside-the-box" ideas.....a relatively short barrel and light-weight projectiles, etc.

www.6mmbr.com/gunweekarchive.html is the page.

hope it's worth your time,

That is some impressive reading. Mighty impressive shooting as well. I did make a one shot group smaller then that at 630 yds. Right under the eyeball of a 10# groundhog. Used a 6mm Rem with 85gr Sierra BTHP at 3100fps. Never had the opportunity to do it again. :-D  :D

RN3'

my longest Hanid-rifle shot at a g-hog was later estimated with a range finder at approx' 185 yds'.   i made it with a .223 heavy barrel.   it was a gift from the Lord.........because i was not in a very stable position at the time.

i used to think that i'd like to get a good 6 mm Rem'; but the lack of recognition from the public (hard-to-find ammo and full-price rifles) has moved me away from it.   if i was to find a .22-250 Rem' then i might consider a purchase.  but i don't need one badly.

take care,

ss'
