I mainly hunt in the southern parts of Alabama and Mississippi and have had my most success from April 1-15. Thats seems like when the toms are gobbling good and responding to calls. In fact, I wish they would have kept opening day March 20 instead of moving it to March 15 here in Alabama. However, I've heard good gobbling on opening day before when the weather was pretty. Last year, they started gobbling late, well into April, but as I posted earlier, the woods look like to me they will be gobbling soon. Ben Rogers Lee use to say that the gobbling starts when the leaves on the oaks are as big as a squirrel's ear.
