Fish, I have caught them side by side, but never two in one trap.
Looks like it's time for a season ,in your area.

asa the biologist said they would probably would have them mounted and use them for teaching.they are bigger than they look in the pic. the biggest is 32 in.without the tail.

talked to the warden the other day and he said he couldnt make any promoses but he would see what he could do about getting me a tag and let me keep them. :grin:

What type of set were you using to catch them? Was it a castor set, cross over set or on a den hole? We're allowed to catch three this year and was curious as to how you caught them. Thanks, Worm.

worm. in a denhole.got a beaver the day before then the next day had them.i moved out of ohio rite before they got a season and i never seen one.now im here in ky with no season and see them all the time.

That is pretty cool first time I have ever seen a picture like that. A friend of mine down here in Gilman City, Missouri a couple years back before I was interested in trapping caught two otters side by side. I never knew about this until this year, but I guess it happens more often than I thought.

fishdaddy, did you live in ashley or close to it? I thought you and I had done a trade a couple of years ago, but wasn't sure if it was you or not. You came down here and we traded traps for muzzleloader stuff. Anyway I've been setting up along the river and have been finding a lot of otter toilets beside beaver crawl-outs. The river is flooded so I have been hanging snares in the crawl-outs. Hoping to catch an otter or two, but so far no luck. Later, Worm.

yep i lived in ashley.and we did some trading.i still have the traps except one.it got ripped off.all the time i traped in ohio i never seen an otter. moved to ky. and see them all the time.got three in my beaver sets already.sometimes it takes otter a while to make their rounds.but if your seeing toilets they will be back you should set some #2s in the crawl outs along with your snares.

I've been setting #4 and bigger foot holds on the crawl outs in the water and castor sets whenever I find likely spots. The river has been running high for the last week or so and thats why I've been hanging snares. We're supposed to get more rain tonight, but I think the water will drop enough that my sets in the crawl outs will be at the right depth for the beaver. Not to sure about the otters. I tried some of Asa's otter pocket sets, but the river rose to fast on me and they are all under two feet of water. If the water ever does drop during the season I will at least have the set already in the locations they should be. I'll just have to remake and relure all of them.
