Illinois House Bill 2414 or hb2414 is not a joke or a hoax. It is very real. The possibility that your firearms will be taken from you is great. This ban will not be like the federal assault weapons ban that just sunsetted. This one bans manufacturing, sale, transportation, AND POSSESSION! You must do these things ASAP!
1. Register to vote, why because no one cares what you have to say unless you vote. And yes politicians' aides do check these things.
2. Call your representative and voice your opinion in a calm and consise manner. I don't care if he or she is anti-gun. DO IT!
3. Copy the entire bill off of the State of IL website. Link is found below! Read it and learn it. Then go inform every single person who will listen about it. Encourage others to call their rep.
4. Do what I'm doing- a grassroots campaign including getting a petition ready for folks to sign. I've got 21 signatures today. I know that's not many, but how many do YOU have?
5. Don't lie or stretch the truth, let the facts speak for themselves.
6. Join the NRA. Yes I know they waste money but they are one of only a few groups who will speak for you. They can and sometimes do get things done. It's only $35 for a year. You spend that in one sitting at the range burning up ammo I bet.
7. Become the biggest PIA this state has ever seen for gun rights, legally of course.
If we sit on our hands yet again as gun owners we will be SCREWED! PERIOD! Are you willing to die for your rights? Because I've met people today who claim they are. If we don't become politically active on this one we will have to make that decision when they come knocking for the guns. No I'm not advocating violence here. Just making a statement. Please guys and gals lets organize before it's too late. If you've got the time to shoot you've got the time to get involved. Please do for all of our sakes!
