I used the Krylon Camo paint from walmart :-D and I'm hoping that it will hold up .

I used the safety yellow on my daughters sportster and it is holding up very well so far.

Very Nice!

How do you like the stock? I have been thinking about getting one of those for my Ultra .223 and putting the cinnimon stock and forend on my stainless Huntsman. Of course I will need to modify my forend for the ramrod.

Let us know how she shoots with the new stock and forend.

So far she has been shooting less than 1" at 100 yards :-D I love my Handi little .308

with a little more work you'll get smaller groups than 1" ---- because i figure you're gettin' ready to go Tactical!

The rifle shoots like a champ. With all the advise I have gotten and read about I have

1. Lapped the Barrel with flitz.
2. Polished the chamber.
3. Added a de-resenator.
4. Added a Choate varmit stock and camoed it.
5. Added a Harris Bipod.
6. Added the O ring to the stud.

We are up for high wind here tomorrow, so it may be next week before I can check the Zero on it.

How do you like the De-Resonator ? How much did it shrink your groups down? I have one and have tried it on a Weathery bolt gun...and it shrank the groups by 1/2 on some loads.

I'm hoping Mac that the groups will be very good

I haven't fired a round since I Lapped the barrel so I guess I will be starting from scratch again. I need to find me a good shooting rest before I head to the range around next friday. I'm hoping for the best. will keep you and the guys posted.

Mac' mm.308,

i did notice the de-resonator but being as frugal (?) as i am the thought Immediately occured to me to cut a length of rubber/heater hose and try that with a lightweight clamp to use as a tuning device. beats the price of a Browning or a Winchester with a 'BOSS'!

i suppose i just "told on myself" but that's how i see myself as trying to tune the lighter-barrel'd Handi' i use with 50 gr' Hornady spirepoints. it'll shoot, but it's finicky with heavier bullets.

Safety I have to admit that that crossed my mind LOL with the hose, hey you never know unless you try it :eek: Just may stumble across something that works great.

I'm having one heck of a newbie idea at this moment. Im thinking of adding a muzzle Brake I was looking on Brownells and found that you can purchase brakes that slip over the muzzle but mit would be my luck something bad would happen

with muzzle brakes being as loud as they are i actually prefer the recoil :-D

i hate having my brain rattled around by noise. a standard 'kaboommmm' is plenty for me without all that ear-piercing, mind-numbing racket coming off of a 'brake'! :eek: :eek:

you can try it if you like; but you may be looking for a 'sleeve' at a later date to undue the darn thing.

Well I took it to the range today. Got there at 7:45 thought I would have it to myself for a while

BOY was I wrong. Almost every bench was taken and the Game warden was there (Wild life Management area range) And he was in a foul mood. He was threatening to ticket anyone not using proper targets (no plastic bottles that some folks use) No smoking on range, Failure to pick up brass casings. Any way the shots grouped at about 3/4 of an inch BUT the guys shooting next to me on each side did not have their targets line with their bench so my 100 yard target got plastered by them with out even a sorry. Messed up my 2 Holders almost shot them into. So after 10 rounds I waited for the range to go Cold I walked out and collected my targets and came back home.
I have 6 acres behind my home but since my neighbors moved in they call the deputy every time I shoot because it disturbs them.

Boy what a day But the Handi shot like a champ.

Good for you on the gun shooting well and sorry about your neighbors. Is it legal to shot on your property where you are doing it? If so how about just telling the deputy you are going to shoot as long as it's legal but you will do it at reasonable times, say between 0800-1800 and that if your neighbors want you are willing to call them every time to alert them so they won't have to waste the Deputys time every time you shoot or offer to call the Deputy before you go shooting so he won't have to waste his time on a phoney "shots fired" call. I did not know you had left wing liberals for neighbors :-D :-D ....<><.... :grin:

Just to let you guys know my hearts in the right place (and yes, retired LEO's do have hearts) yesterday I waited until both my neighbors were gone to climb up the stairs to my second floor, throw open the sash, (oh-oh, wrong story), anyway, I slooowly slid up the sash, so as to not disturb the crows on my neighbors lawn then from appx 55 yards away proceeded to put a .17 grain .17 caliber bullet from my fine shooting little .17 Mach2 Sportster right into the middle of a crows chest that was facing right in my direction. The flock of crows flew up and away with a clatter (oh-oh, wrong story again!!) and quickly returned with 2 or 3 times their numbers, filling the trees above their fallen breathen cawing and making quite a rukus. I calmly got in my truck, having to go to the dump anyway, since it was loaded from the day before when I missed the closing time at the dump by only about 2 minutes, drove out of the yard and into my neighbors driveway, threw the crow into a paper bag and into the truck, then proceeded to the dump where he was given a proper burial. So see, I do have a heart!!!....<><....

Getting back to the 3/4" group, how long did you take to shoot that? Did you let the barrel cool down between shots, or did you just do what I tend to do, and fire a round, check the spotting scope, drop in another round and fire again?

Too bad about the other folks at the range. Let's hope they learn. On the other hand, maybe you should have shot THEIR targets! :grin: They would have had something to brag about: "Look at this 100 yard, 3/4" group I shot!" You could have made their day!
