For all around shooting pleasure(in military trim) and general accuracy, which would you choose and WHY? TIA

I have been between two choices before and usually end up buying both anyway.  Its hard to pick one over another if your like me I like them all. this sport is a disease and the only cure is to buy more!!!    BigBill

Collect the 03A3 and shoot the 1917---your shoulder will love you for it, especially if you plan on shooting it alot! Too me, the 03A3's kick hard, esp with hardball. Both are about as accurate, but the A3 has a windage adjustable rear site. Buy all you can! They're not making any more of them!

Having owned and shot both in full military form, I'll take the Springfield. They both have bad stocks and they both group about the same. The Springfield cocks on opening and that seems better to me. The Springfield has a more interesting history and I like that, also. Springfields were used in the first and second world wars and even in Korea as sniper rifles, I believe.

I've owned and shot both.  Shooting the '03A3 is as driving a Mustang, while shooting the M1917 is as driving a F250.  Not better or worse, just different.

Well...I have a Mustang...and an F150...LOL Personally, I like the sleeker looks/lighter weight of the A3, myself...I just can't bring myself to pay $700 for one. Local dealer has a Smith-Corona A3 in MINT condition....but I want a SHOOTER, not a Safe Queen.....
