Sold at Graf's and Son.  They have a web site.  They sell the 286gr by Privi-Partisan.  It is used by folks for African game and European wild bore.  Long standing company.  $18.00 / box of 20.  Hard to beat if the 286gr is right.   Buckfever

Over the weekend I read an article about a rifle in this caliber in "Rifle".  Started looking through the reloading books and also saw the 9.3 x 64 Brenneke.  Not too much loaded or unloaded out there on this.  Can this be made from 7x64 Bre. or a simular cartridge?  The smaller 9.3 x 62 and the 9.3 x 57 seem to be readily available but not this one...why is that?

9.3x62 Mauser
« Reply #6 on: March 17, 2006, 05:40:38 PM »
I had a 1917 Remington Enfield rebarreled to 9.3x62 Mauser last year and took it to my son, Thebear_78, in Anchorage, AK, for his birthday.  He said a couple of stores there carried ammo in 9.3x62 Mauser but it was a bit pricey.  I also took him 100 new brass and a set of RCBS dies which you can order online from Buffalo Arms at http://www.buffaloarms.com/    The round works very well as my son took a spike/fork bull moose with it at 270 yds.  Check out the thread "The 9.3x62 is a winner!" in Medium Bore Rifles.
Take care and keep you powder dry.  :D

SUSQUASH your a great dad...that is an awesome gun.  I also like the one he built for you.  By the way if you need another son I'm available...I grew up on a 3000 acre farm if that helps your decision.

Call me crazy but I'm looking at getting either a 9.3x62 Mauser or a 9.3x74R for my Encore.  Since the 9.3x74R is something that really intregges me I'm leaning that way, something about that long rimmed round makes me want to have it.

I've looked into the Tikka and CZ for the 9.3x62 Mauser and I can get a CZ for $550 to $600 depending on the model.  I can get a custom barrel for the Encore for under that price and have some money left over for the scope.

Oliverstacy, (Josh),
Glad you liked the rifles.  They shoot as well as they look.  I just handled a CZ in 458 Win Mag the other day and one in 9.3x62 Mauser would be a great gun.  I especially liked the express sights.  Had several offers to adopt since I had that rifle made for Thebear_78.  Had to turn them all down although that 3000 acre farm does sound interesting if you still have access to it.    Especially as it is here in Michigan although it sounds like you are south of the deer rifle line.

Nosler 250gr. BT, 9.3x62

Has anybody shot this combination.  I have a box of them and Nosler swears they are the best for big Black Bear, Moose and Elk.  I have been told that the heavy bullet changes the game when it is shot at moderate velocities.  In other words the need for a little expansion is required and the super bullets are not necessary.  Anybody hear anything on this?  Kind of flys in the face of the smaller premuim bullet and high velocity.
