Steel Shot Questions

Would it be OK to use steel shot in my Moss. 590?  The barrel is cylinder bore.  Although it likely won't be a problem, I just wanted to confirm it with those who have more experience than I.

Another question: Can extensive use of steel shot cause any sort of problems or excessive wear?
