ruger mark II scope question.
« on: March 13, 2003, 04:37:50 PM »
I have a Ruger Mark II gov model slabside.

This firearm comes with base and rings.  I have used them for an optical scope, ie swift 2x.  It appears that this scope has bit the dust and I am considering a red dot.

Will the scope/rings that come with gun work on a red dot.  It comes with one inch rings.

What size dot do you recommend for target shooting (50 feet).

Thanks

Fred :-)

Fred:

I have the same pistol.

I fitted my Govt. Comp Model with an 1" UltraDot scope.  Got mine from Larry's Guns.

I used the base/rings that Ruger supplied with my gun...everything bolts-up great.  The dovetail rings I got with the scope are still in the box.

The variable intensity dot works well when I shoot indoors and outdoors.  I didn't see any value in the variable dot.  The 4MOA seems to work just fine for me....but that's just one guys opinion.  Once you get the scope adjusted...it's all operator.

Here's UD's website...take a look.

I took my defective swift optic scope back to my retailer (Blyth's in Valparaiso, IN and they gave me credit for the entire amount  and I have ordered a Millet red dot. I am very pleased I was not even asked for a receipt.

I had a chance to sight down one on a ruger on Thursday and was impressed.

Shot the Ruger with iron sights today...Did very well at 50 ft had 2 inch group at center of target.  Wish I could do this at the gun club.

Thanks for the help!
